Founding


Anthony "Tony" Bacarella founds Bacarella Transportation Services, Inc. (BTS), laying the foundation for what would become a 45-year legacy in freight forwarding and logistics.
1984
Family Business


Ross Bacarella joins Anthony "Tony" Bacarella at BTS, bringing together a partnership that would shape the company's direction and growth for decades to come.
1986
AITA License


BTS obtains its IATA License, formally establishing its capability to operate as an accredited air freight forwarder and expand its air cargo service offerings.
1988
FMC License


BTS obtains its FMC License, authorizing the company to operate as an ocean freight forwarder and broadening its capabilities across multiple modes of transportation.
1995
Rebrand & Expansion


BTS rebrands as BTX Air Express and begins an aggressive expansion strategy, marking a pivotal shift in the company's identity and market presence.
1996
Proprietary TMS


BTX develops its first proprietary in-house transportation management system, BTX 2000, establishing the foundation for decades of homegrown technology innovation.
1997
BTraX Launch


BTX launches BTraX, its first customer-facing tracking system, giving clients direct visibility into their shipments for the first time in company history.
2002
MyBTX Launches


BTX launches its first internet platform, MyBTX, giving customers online access to shipping tools and marking an early step into digital transformation.
2005
EDI Services


BTX begins offering EDI services to its customers, enabling automated data exchange and strengthening the company's technology-driven approach to logistics.
2008
BTXShip Launch


BTX upgrades its proprietary TMS to launch BTXShip, advancing its in-house technology capabilities and improving operational efficiency across the organization.
2017
New Headquarters


BTX moves to its world headquarters in Shelton, Connecticut, establishing a permanent home base to support its continued growth and operations.

Customs Brokerage
